The New York City Bar Association Lawyer Assistance Program (LAP) supports the well-being of the New York City and Westchester legal communities by providing free, confidential help, counseling and resources. Donations to LAP assists us in carrying out our mission to ensure that every attorney, judge, law student, family member and staff who are experiencing a mental health, substance use and any other physical or psychological issue that is impacting their personal and professional lives, receives the help they need. LAP’s services include evaluation and assessment, referrals to professionals and specialists, supportive counseling and peer support. LAP is committed to educating law schools, firms, non-profits, government agencies, in-house counsel and the judiciary on the high incidence of mental health and substance use problems in the profession, prevention strategies, and how to address these issues.
