9:30 am - 10:30 am Business as (Un)usual?: riding the wave of omni-crisis and fragmentation
This session will look at the key economic patterns and trends in 2024 and beyond that are creating a perception of perpetual crisis and fragmentation. Rebecca will look at the global economy, the interplay between the economy, geopolitics and geoeconomics, and assess the nature of political risk as it affects strategic decision making. She will also look at sustainability, the imperatives for change and the role of emerging global policies and regulations that increasingly determine how corporates report, how they allocate resources through their supply chains and how they measure success. The core question is clearly, “Can we find a way through in an era of omnicrisis?” Rebecca’s answer is a nuanced “Yes”, but decision-making has necessarily become more complex.
Dr. Rebecca Harding, Independent Economist and Author

2:30 pm - 5:00 pm The Italian Job - A Business Simulation
A highly interactive session centered on a business simulation. The scenario “you are newly appointed directors of existing wholesaling businesses. The previous directors have been “moved on”- they didn’t deliver …. your shareholders demand growing profits, plenty of cash and expansion – both now and yesterday! Your future and certainly your bonus will depend on delivering the results your shareholder’s demand! Look around the room … that’s the competition. The objective is to win. Are you up for the challenge?”

5:00 pm - 5:30 pm Closing Remarks
For the closing remarks, Dr. Helena Boschi will bring everyone together to explore what it means to make an impact in a fragmented world. Members will reflect upon the speakers key takeaways and discuss as a group the global issues facing General Counsel in their roles today.
