James Palmer is a reporter for Corporate Counsel at Law.com, covering legal departments in the financial services and sports industries.
He began his journalism career in 2001, reporting civil and regional conflicts in South Asia, the Middle East and East Africa. His work has appeared in the Guardian, Washington Post, Toronto Star, Der Spiegel, and Reuters, among others. Palmer was awarded the Nicholas Blake Grant for international freelance reporting in 2007, for his coverage of the war in Iraq. The Newark Star-Ledger twice nominated him for a Pulitzer Prize in foreign reporting for his stories from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Prior to joining ALM, Palmer represented contemporary artists in New York, including the painter Greg Kwiatek, a Guggenheim fellow.
He graduated with a B.A. degree in English literature and philosophy from the University at Buffalo and an M.S. in journalism from Columbia University.
