Gina is a senior legal executive and former General Counsel with more than 25 years of experience advising organizations at the intersection of law, business, technology, education, risk, and privacy. She has served as a trusted advisor to CEOs, Boards, and senior executives on corporate governance, enterprise risk management, global privacy and data governance, commercial transactions, labor and employment, litigation, and crisis response.
Upon graduating from law school, Gina began her legal career practicing civil defense litigation at King & Spalding in Atlanta. She subsequently transitioned to an in-house practice, building a career spanning telecommunications, technology, financial services, and education. Most recently, she served as Vice President and General Counsel of The Common Application, where she was the organization’s Chief Legal, Risk, Compliance and Privacy Officer and built its first in-house legal function. Her prior leadership roles include General Counsel of Democracy Prep Public Schools, Interim Deputy General Counsel at Hunter College of the City University of New York, and Vice President and Associate General Counsel at The College Board.
Gina is particularly interested in the evolving role of the General Counsel as a strategic business partner and in helping organizations navigate emerging issues involving artificial intelligence, privacy, cybersecurity, enterprise risk, and organizational governance. She holds the IAPP Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP), CIPP/E, CIPP/US, and CIPM certifications and has completed advanced cybersecurity training at Harvard University.
Gina earned an LL.M. in Taxation with an International Specialization from the University of Miami School of Law, a J.D. from Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University, and a B.A. in Economics from Spelman College. She is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, the District of Columbia, and Georgia.
