Speaker Bio
Eddie Bines is a director in the Global Restructuring Advisory practice and is based in the London office. He has more than 23 years of corporate restructuring and advisory experience and specializes in working alongside clients to:

- Deliver large scale global and UK-centric corporate structure simplification initiatives;
- Manage the wind down of businesses and entities prior to elimination; and
- Deliver entity elimination generally, returning capital to shareholders and creditors through the liquidation process.

Eddie has led projects for clients ranging from listed plc’s to owner managed businesses across a range of industries, including banking, insurance, real estate, consumer products and retail. His notable assignments include:

- A project for a global investment bank, which involved planning and implementing the wind down and subsequent solvent liquidation of a population of special purpose vehicles (SPVs) identified as surplus to requirements following a group tax restructuring;
- A project for a FTSE100 listed insurer, where he led the rationalization of the firm’s UK entity structure. His team worked with the Board and senior stakeholders to develop effective risk management processes around the elimination of companies from the group structure by way of solvent liquidation. The team reduced the UK group structure from approximately 200 to 50 companies; and
- A project for a global retailer working alongside senior stakeholders to eliminate circa 50 companies deemed surplus to requirements by the group across multiple jurisdictions. This included managing the closure and subsequent liquidation of an unprofitable, non-core subsidiary.

Prior to joining Duff & Phelps, Eddie served as a senior manager at KPMG. Before that, he was an assistant director at Ernst and Young. He has authored thought leadership articles on corporate structure simplification and presented on this topic and liquidations generally, on numerous occasions.

Eddie is a qualified insolvency practitioner and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
