Karl D. Mueller is the head of internal Information Security for Crowell & Moring based out of the firm’s Washington DC office. He currently manages the firm’s security program which includes a staff of dedicated security professionals and a diverse portfolio of systems and controls.
Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Karl lead the incident response team at Freddie Mac and consulted on network security operations and engineering for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Department of Defense. While he currently specializes in security, he also has a long background in network and systems administration starting with dial-up technical support for a regional ISP in the 1990’s. Karl is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA), and an ASA certified sailor. He has also placed third overall in the SANS NetWars Cyber Defense Initiative competition earning a coveted SANS challenge coin.
