The genesis of Karta Legal is our CEO's desire to push forward team, process, and technology innovation and change management. Her approach is unique. She uses curated design thinking, Lean Six Sigma, and Agile project management tools and techniques tailored to the management of the business of law and legal processes. By doing this, the success of any innovation initiative is optimized. This approach also maximizes efficiencies, resulting in significant savings in resources. Ms. Fuentes Slater is a law graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and a Legal Project Manager.

Lourdes's approach to innovation and commitment to legal process improvement has been recognized by the prestigious New York Law Journal. Lourdes was named a New York Trailblazer for being "truly an agent of change," an "innovator," and a "thought leader."

In 2021 the National Law Journal selected Karta Legal LLC as a Legal Technology Trailblazer. Very few companies get recognized as a Trailblazer and the fact that our young company was selected among a choice of titans is a testament to Lourdes's innovative approach to legal technology innovation. Not only was the award meaningful for this recognition, but also because Karta Legal LLC was the only WBENC and MBE given this prestigious award. We are epitome of the quest to redefine innovation in the legal industry, not only with the best cutting edge technology but with also diversity in mind.
