Judge Martin B. (Marty) McGee serves as the Senior Resident Superior Court Judge in North Carolina Judicial District 25 and has served in various judicial capacities for twenty-five years.

A court-technology leader, he focuses on remote proceedings and the use of artificial intelligence in the courts. As a Duke Law RAILS Fellow, Judge McGee is developing a model administrative (standing) order establishing a framework for the ethical use of artificial intelligence in court proceedings, adaptable to the needs of individual courts.

Prior to his service as a judge, he represented clients in courts ranging from Small Claims Court to the Supreme Court of the United States. He worked on four matters that were argued before the Supreme Court of the United States and sat second chair in one of those cases.

Judge McGee is a graduate of the University of North Carolina (B.A.), Wake Forest University School of Law (J.D,), and Duke University School of Law (LL.M.). He is married to Debin McGee, and they have two daughters, Dorothy and Eleanor.
