Afua Dabanka is the Head PMO, Legal at Meta, where she champions operational excellence, regulatory readiness, and AI transformation across Meta Legal.

A distinguished and transformational leader, Afua is renowned for building high-performing teams and driving programmatic change at scale. Her team partners directly with legal and cross-functional stakeholders, implementing Legal programs that help Meta navigate complex regulatory and compliance landscapes and deliver strategic impact.

As co-lead of Meta Legal’s AI Center of Excellence, Afua spearheads the company’s AI transformation. She has successfully unified fragmented training into a measurable, role-based curriculum, redesigned the AI use-case intake and scoring process, and implemented a real-time accountability dashboard for Legal’s AI initiatives. Her work, in partnership with Legal Operations and outside counsel, has advanced responsible AI principles, delivering measurable productivity gains and cost optimization.

Before joining Meta in 2020, Afua held senior leadership positions in global financial services at institutions including HSBC, Wells Fargo, and Citi. Her tenure focused on leading major transformation programs in regulatory compliance, privacy, and financial crime, implementing large-scale operating model redesigns, and leveraging advanced analytics and AI to enhance risk mitigation.

Afua holds a BA (Hons) in Business Administration from Middlesex University and studied Economics and Social Science at the University of Dortmund, Germany. She is fluent in English and German. Based in London, she is a dedicated community builder, enjoys mentoring emerging leaders, traveling, art and exploring new cultures.
