Samantha Chaifetz is Co-Chair of the firm's Appellate Advocacy practice. She has extensive appellate litigation experience in civil cases involving constitutional, statutory, and administrative law.

Prior to joining DLA Piper, Samantha was an award-winning appellate attorney for the US DOJ Civil Division. She has served as appellate counsel in more than 100 matters, fully briefed more than 70 cases in federal courts of appeals across the country and personally argued more than 40 cases before 11 federal circuits. Samantha has drafted successful Supreme Court filings, including petitions for certiorari, briefs in opposition and merit-stage briefs, and negotiated complex settlements to resolve longstanding regulatory disputes. Her work for the government spanned federal agencies and practice areas.

At DLA Piper, Samantha represents client in both complex commercial and government-facing disputes. She leverages both the breadth and depth of her knowledge and experience for the benefit of her clients – beginning with strategic advice and forward-thinking issue identification in complex disputes. She offers cross-cutting strategic counsel based on her past work in the White House and on the Hill. In 2021-2022, she served as Deputy Counsel to the Vice President. Previously, she was a counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Privacy, Technology, and the Law and in the White House’s Office of Communications Research.
