Disappearing Guidance: Locating Previously Available Government Agency Information
Description
Attorneys often need to find government guidance or information that was in effect or available as of a certain date. As government information is removed from agency websites, what options do attorneys or researchers have to track that information down? What steps are legal information vendors taking to retain the data as it existed?
Learning Objectives:
- Create awareness of types of information that has been removed from federal agency websites
- Discuss initiatives in place now to archive agency data and inform people how to locate/search archived data
- Review vendors' retention of various data, and active steps vendors are taking to identify and tag it on their platforms
