Speaker Bio
Sam Roberts is a Senior Associate and Solicitor Advocate at leading litigation boutique Cooke, Young & Keidan LLP.

Sam is a commercial litigator with a focus in technology and banking disputes. He has acted both for and against financial institutions in claims involving negligent investment advice, fraud, Libor and FX rigging, and intercepted payments. On the technology side, Sam has acted both for service providers and customers in cases involving breaches of licence agreements and termination of service agreements. Sam is frequently instructed in claims for injunctive relief.

Sam recently acted for the claimant in a substantial payment fraud case (worth approximately US$7 million) which involved the first known freezing injunction over the assets of ‘persons unknown’ in England and Wales: CMOC Sales & Marketing Ltd -v- Persons Unknown & Others [2018] EWHC 2230 (Comm). This claim involved a significant asset tracing exercise with over 80 parties and 20 jurisdictions, and made innovative use of technology platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp and a Dropbox-like data room to effect service on fraudster defendants and ‘no cause of action’ defendant institutions.
Sam also has a particular interest in the application of psychology to dispute resolution.
