Spotlight on Africa
Spotlight on Africa is a UK development charity committed to making a lasting difference to the people of Eastern Uganda. We do this by providing access to basic services that most of us take for granted, like clean water (provided daily to 14,000 people), healthcare (provided every year to 50,000 patients), education (to 14,000 children who would otherwise not have gone to school) and economic empowerment (through an ITC Centre).
We believe sustainable impact can only be achieved by integrating these 4 key areas. We have chosen to focus on the impoverished communities around Mbale as thousands of people have fled to this region due to conflict elsewhere with their homes demolished and their livelihoods destroyed. We fund projects that are identified and owned by the people we help.
More than 95p of every pound donated to Spotlight on Africa goes directly to our projects. We monitor our schemes in the field but all travel costs are currently covered by our volunteers.
