Parminder S. Basran PhD (2002- University of Calgary), MSc/BSc (1994, 1997-University of Alberta) is a Medical Physicist and Associate Research Professor at Cornell University – College of Veterinary Medicine, NY. He combines expertise in physics and medicine to help and people and animals. He has published in a variety of fields, including safety and quality improvement in human oncology, machine learning methods from medical images and medical image processing, and is starting his new research lab (VAIDER Lab -Veterinary AI in Diagnostic Imaging and Radiotherapy) that undertakes research in AI with medical images, including detecting disease in cats and dairy cows, and preventing injuries in Thoroughbred racehorses. He is also a founding board member for Medical Physics for World Benefit, a not-for-profit organization which helps in delivering safe patient care for those in low to middle-income countries.
