Matthew is a Vice President, Global Information Governance Advisory Services, at Consilio, based in Los Angeles, California. He is a non-practicing attorney with over 16 years’ experience. His unique perspective provides an unbiased risk and cost minimizing approach towards managing and protecting data. Mr. Miller has enabled his clients to mitigate risks and reduce costs by improving processes, enhancing existing investments, while obtaining increased productivity from people and technology resources. Matthew specifically focuses on providing information governance, data privacy, eDiscovery, and forensic investigation solutions to his clients.

Leading the Information Governance Advisory Services practice, Matthew’s team of professionals consult corporations and law firms on developing and/or improving data privacy and information governance workflows, while leveraging technology to solve real business challenges. He previously managed the West Region Business Development team for Consilio. Prior to Consilio, Matthew co-developed the Information Governance Services offering at Ernst & Young LLP, where he spent 6 years in their Forensic Technology & Discovery Services practice. He has handled complex projects such as protecting sensitive IP and data disposition, where his team scanned 10 petabytes of data to identify ‘crown jewels’ and ‘ROT’, led the advanced forensic recovery team for EMEIA related to the SONY hack, and led a 12-country DOJ anti-trust litigation response and 3-year compliance monitor engagement for a global bank.

He is a thought leader, frequently speaking on best practices for data management and data protection, with over 30 appearances in the United States, Canada and Australia. Before EY, Matthew was the Product Manager for EnCase eDiscovery and Legal Hold at Guidance Software and ran Forsythe Technology's Information Governance & eDiscovery practice implementing both process and technology solutions across the U.S. Matthew is quoted in the Forbes.com article “How Do Top Cybersecurity Experts Keep Our Data Safe?”, in the Compliance Week article “Getting a Grip on Investigations and Data”, and recently co-authored a published whitepaper, titled: “How to Prepare for the CCPA: Know Your Data”.

He received his BS from Syracuse University Whitman School of Business and his JD from Hofstra University School of Law. He is a member of the Sedona Conference Working Group on Data Security and Privacy Liability (WG11) and the E-Discovery / Information Governance Board of Advisors at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. He is also a member of the ACFE. Matthew is also an Instructor for CMSI 660 Cybersecurity Fundamentals / Intro to Cybersecurity within the Seaver College of Science and Engineering at Loyola Marymount University, one of the core course requirements for the Cybersecurity Certificate Program.
