Speaker Bio
Chris Cihon is a senior legal and compliance executive whose career spans nearly three decades at the intersection of corporate law, technology, and global regulatory affairs. Most recently serving as Vice President, Assistant General Counsel, and Corporate Compliance Director at Texas Instruments — a Fortune 500 semiconductor company and one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturers of analog and embedded chips — Chris built, directed, and continuously modernized TI’s worldwide compliance program across areas including privacy, cybersecurity, anti-corruption, antitrust, and international trade. In that role he also oversaw the company’s legal response to evolving semiconductor industry regulation, including export controls and compliance obligations arising from the CHIPS and Science Act.
Over the course of his career, Chris has advised boards of directors and C-suite executives on high-stakes legal and regulatory matters, led global legal teams across multiple continents, and negotiated complex international technology and licensing agreements. Earlier in his career he practiced law in Washington, D.C. at Nixon Peabody LLP and at Jackson & Campbell, P.C., as a litigator with a focus on antitrust, technology, and communications law.
Chris holds a J.D., cum laude, from Tulane University Law School (1996) and a B.A. from Williams College (1993). At Tulane he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Tulane Environmental Law Journal and participated in student governance while enjoying the Big Easy. At Williams, Chris dual majored in Political Economy and Sociology, played football, lacrosse, and ran track. He also studied at Exeter College of Oxford University, where he established a Thanksgiving touch football bowl game between expat Williams and Stanford students – Williams won the inaugural “Turkey Bowl”, which may be the last time a Div. III NESCAC school has bested the Cardinal.
Away from the office, Chris is an avid reader with wide-ranging interests, a passionate international traveler, and an enthusiastic collector of small and very old pieces of cardboard.
