Kim has over 30 years of auto industry legal experience spanning R&D, manufacturing,
sales, marketing, operations, information technology, and intellectual property. As Vice
President, Assistant General Counsel - Regulatory of Toyota Motor North America, Kim
is responsible for leading the regulatory legal representation of Toyota’s affiliates in
North America, including vehicle safety, privacy and cybersecurity, customs & trade,
environmental, health, and safety compliance, and advising government affairs. Kim has
extensive experience in the areas of complex litigation, government investigations,
cybersecurity, compliance and risk assessment, international trade and sanctions,
environmental, and intellectual property litigation and enforcement. She is a member
of TMNA’s Compliance and Risk Assessment Committees and is Secretary/Member of
the Vehicle and Enterprise Cybersecurity Committees. Externally, she is on the Board of
Directors of the Environmental Law Institute, and a Board member of CJAC, Civil Justice
Association of California.
Prior to assuming her current position at Toyota, Kim handled complex business
litigation, including government investigations, class actions, patent litigation, and
customs and trade matters. She has a passion for vehicles and technology. Kim started
her career as a litigator at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, and worked in-house at Honda
North America on similar matters for approximately 10 years prior to joining Toyota.
She received her law degree from the University of Chicago Law School and holds two
degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, a B.S. from the Wharton School and a
B.A.S. from the School of Engineering and Applied Science.
Kim’s favorite hobby is spending time training and competing with her border collies in
dog agility.
