Kathryn D. Betts is Associate General Counsel at Eco-Bat Technologies Limited, the world’s largest battery recycler. She advises the board and executive leadership on strategic legal matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance. Prior to joining Ecobat, Kathryn was Counsel in the Corporate Practice Group at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, and previously held roles at Sidley Austin LLP and Baker Botts L.L.P., where she represented a range of public and private clients in complex transactional and restructuring matters. A graduate of Duke University School of Law and Washington University in St. Louis, she is recognized in Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch for her work in corporate and M&A law. Kathryn is a published author on the intersection of technology and legal practice, having co-authored The Dawn of Fully Automated Contract Drafting: Machine Learning Breathes New Life into Decades-Old Promise (Duke Law & Technology Review, 2017), and is an early adopter and frequent user of machine learning technologies. Outside of work, she actively serves on nonprofit boards and performs as an oboist with volunteer orchestras.
