Courtney Carrell is Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Modernizing Medicine (ModMed), a specialty-specific electronic health records company. Before joining ModMed, Courtney was a partner at Jones Day, where she advised health care clients on privacy, regulatory, and compliance matters, including counseling cross-border digital health platforms, organ transplant hospitals, and COVID-19 vaccine programs.

Courtney graduated from Claremont McKenna College and Yale Law School and clerked for Hon. Patrick E. Higginbotham on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Before her legal career, Courtney oversaw the submission of major grants and stem cell research reviews at UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. Courtney is an advocate for patients with rare diseases and serves on advisory committees regarding research proposals for neuromuscular diseases. Courtney lives in Dallas with her husband and daughter.
