Stephanie Gause Culpepper is Senior Managing Director, General Counsel of Lument, a national leader in commercial real estate finance for investors in multifamily, affordable housing, and seniors housing and healthcare real estate. Lument is a Fannie Mae DUS®, Freddie Mac Optigo®, FHA, and USDA lender. The company has approximately 600 employees in over 30 offices across the United States with main offices in New York, Dallas and Columbus. Lument is the commercial real estate finance subsidiary of ORIX Corporation USA (ORIX USA), whose

As General Counsel, Ms. Culpepper leads Lument’s legal department and provides strategic legal counsel with a focus on executing Lument’s business strategy. Ms. Culpepper is a member of Lument’s executive committee, chair of its management committee, and a member of ORIX USA’s diversity, equity & inclusion advisory board.
Ms. Culpepper joined ORIX USA in 2017 and prior to her role as General Counsel held numerous positions at Lument and ORIX USA, including Deputy General Counsel of Lument, Senior Managing Counsel of ORIX USA Real Estate Capital, and Director of Legal Operations.
Prior to joining ORIX USA, Ms. Culpepper was a partner in the Dallas office of Frost Brown Todd, a national full-service law firm.
Active in the community, Ms. Culpepper serves as current Chair of the Dallas Bar Association Board of Directors, President of the Dallas Women Lawyers Association Foundation, Director of the Texas General Counsel Forum, and as Director on the AT&T Performing Arts Center Auxiliary Board. She is a recognized leader, having served as President of the Dallas Women Lawyers Association in 2020 and President of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers in 2016.
Ms. Culpepper was selected as a member of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers Leadership Class in 2007. In 2013-2017, Ms. Culpepper was designated as a Texas Rising Star by Texas Monthly Magazine. In 2014, she was selected as one of the 40 Under 40; by the Dallas Business Journal. In 2020 and 2022, Ms. Culpepper was chosen as a finalist for the D CEO Magazine Corporate Counsel Awards. In 2022, Ms. Culpepper was selected by Texas Lawyer Magazine as one of the best mentors in Texas, and she accepted a special recognition award on behalf of
the Dallas Women Lawyers Association from the National Conference of Women’s Bar Associations for “Women’s Mentoring Circles”, a program she founded as President of Dallas Association of Young Lawyers. Approximately 200 women lawyers in Dallas have participated in Women’s Mentoring Circles each year since its formation in 2016.
Stephanie received a B.B.A. cum laude with a double major in finance and the business honors program from the University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. cum laude from the University of Texas School of Law.
