Speaker Bio
Eileen advises businesses the way an experienced general counsel would — because she’s been one for most of her career.

She spent more than 25 years as General Counsel and a senior executive at a Chicago-based company, where she was responsible not just for legal issues, but for operations, risk, and business decisions that affected the entire organization. Before and after that role, she has worked in private practice, in-house at an insurance company, and as the owner of her own firm providing outside general counsel services.

That experience shows up in every engagement.

Eileen now serves as Partner and Chair of the Commercial Practice Group at Laner Muchin. She focuses on mergers and acquisitions, commercial real estate transactions and leasing, corporate governance, and the drafting and negotiation of complex business agreements.

She does not approach these matters as isolated legal tasks. She approaches them the way a business owner or executive would — asking how the deal will actually function once it is signed, where it is likely to break down, and what problems can be prevented now instead of fixed later.

Clients rely on her to spot issues that are easy to miss if you have only practiced law from the outside. She has managed supply chains, overseen operations, and handled crises. She knows where contracts fail in the real world — and how to structure them so they don’t.

Her MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business reinforces that approach. She is comfortable discussing margins, timelines, operational constraints, and risk tolerance — not just legal terms.

Eileen is also known for being highly responsive and easy to work with. She answers quickly, keeps matters moving, and communicates clearly. Clients are not left waiting or guessing. They know where things stand and what comes next.

In negotiations, she is firm but practical. She pushes for her clients, but she also understands how to get deals closed without unnecessary friction. Eileen is a frequent speaker and an active member of NAWBO Chicago, where she works closely with business owners navigating growth and change.
