Michael Sachs is a Partner with MLA's In-House Counsel Recruiting and Board Services teams, based in Chicago. He specializes in placing board directors with for-profit organizations and lawyers at all levels—from junior counsel to general counsel—in corporate and university legal departments. Over the years, Mike has spearheaded critical searches in numerous industries, including healthcare, energy, financial services, consumer products, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, manufacturing and higher education. His clients have ranged from Fortune 500 companies with very large law departments to privately owned organizations with small legal teams and startups looking to build up their legal teams. Prior to joining Major, Lindsey & Africa, Mike was in-house media counsel for NBC Universal, where his primary responsibility was managing legal issues involving syndicated television talk shows. He also worked for more than seven years as a litigation and intellectual property associate at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP, where he specialized in insurance coverage and insurance class action matters, trademark and media defense cases, and numerous other types of commercial disputes.
