Ashley Kuruvilla is an experienced corporate counsel focused on providing strategic legal leadership while guiding organizations through complex legal, regulatory and business challenges.

With over 10 years legal experience, she spent 8 years at Woodland Direct, a leading supplier in the fire and hearth space, as Vice President and General Counsel, serving on the corporation’s Executive Team. She advised on strategic initiatives, as well as managed all of the corporation’s legal matters, from commercial contracts to employment law, compliance to corporate governance. She also led the company’s Human Resources team.

Having served as both a strategic partner and an advocate for the business, Ashley is dedicated to ensuring that legal counsel is not just a safeguard, but a driver of innovation, ethical practices, and sustainable growth. In addition to her corporate work, Ashley provides fractional General Counsel (GC) services, providing legal expertise to organizations that may not require a full-time GC but still need strategic legal leadership and support, including contract review or advice.

She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Detroit Mercy and her Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law. She resides in metro Detroit and serves as legal advisor for several nonprofits that educate and empower those in underprivileged communities. She also regularly advises Foundations and non-profits on giving objectives and vetting potential organizations as donation recipients.
