Bob Jarvis is a law professor at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he teaches and writes about legal ethics. Regularly called on by the media to discuss legal ethics, Bob has been quoted by such outlets as the Daily Business Review; Florida Bulldog; Florida Phoenix; Florida Times-Union; Florida Today; Miami Herald; Orlando Sentinel; Palm Beach Post; ProPublica News; South Florida Sun-Sentinel; Tallahassee Democrat; Tampa Bay Times; and USA Today. Bob also has discussed legal ethics on the Channel 4 (WFOR-CBS) News; Channel 10 (WPLG-ABC) News; and Channel 12 (WPEC-CBS) News. Bob has delivered presentations on legal ethics to such groups as the American Bar Association; Association of American Law Schools; The Florida Bar; International Congress of Maritime Arbitrators; Maritime Law Association of the United States; and National Conference of Law Reviews. Bob is the co-author of two books on legal ethics: Florida Legal Malpractice Law: Commentary and Forms (Full Court Press, 2019) and Florida Legal Malpractice and Attorney Ethics (ALM Media, 2016). He also has authored chapters on legal ethics for three different Florida Bar practice manuals and has published shorter pieces on legal ethics in such periodicals as the American Journal of Legal History; Business, Entrepreneurship & Tax Law Review; Florida Bar Journal; Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics; Journal of the Legal Profession; Journal of Maritime Law and Commerce; New York State Bar Journal; Southwestern University Law Review; St. Mary’s Journal on Legal Malpractice and Ethics; and UNLV Gaming Law Journal. During his career, Bob has served as an expert witness in 20 legal malpractice cases, serving as an expert for both plaintiffs and defendants. Bob has been accepted as a legal ethics expert by circuit courts in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Orange counties. Before joining the NSU faculty in 1987, Bob was an associate with the New York City law firms of Haight, Gardner, Poor & Havens (now Holland & Knight) and Baker & McKenzie. Bob received his B.A. from Northwestern University; his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania; and his LL.M. from New York University.
