Salvatore C. Badala is Partner and General Counsel at Napoli Shkolnik PLLC, where he leads the firm’s Complex Commercial Litigation and Consumer Class Actions department. As a formidable advocate in some of the nation’s most significant civil litigation matters, Sal has established himself as a key figure in groundbreaking legal battles on behalf of municipalities and consumers.
Sal has been at the forefront of landmark cases addressing the opioid epidemic, securing groundbreaking victories including a $650 million ruling against national pharmacy chains and a $1.1 billion settlement with major drug distributors during New York’s first opioid jury trial. His work has helped deliver over $2 billion in settlements and judgments for communities devastated by the crisis.
Before joining Napoli Shkolnik, Sal honed his skills at Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP, where he conducted internal investigations and represented individuals and entities in regulatory enforcement matters before the SEC, CFTC, DOJ, and other regulatory bodies. His work included complex matters involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, credit ratings, foreign exchange markets, and mortgage-backed securities.
A graduate of St. John’s University School of Law, where he served as Executive Articles Editor of the New York International Law Review, Sal has been recognized as a New York Metro Super Lawyers® Rising Star (2016-2023) and elevated to Super Lawyers® (2024-2026). He was honored as the 2016 Outstanding Young Lawyer by the New York State Bar Association.
Sal is admitted to practice in New York and before multiple federal courts, including the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
