Kasey Chappelle is data protection officer at fintech startup GoCardless. Previously, she was chief privacy officer at American Express Global Business Travel, responsible for privacy in more than 120 countries. She created the privacy risk management programme, advised on acquisition of travel technology companies, oversaw product development compliance, and helped create a data governance programme. At Vodafone Group and eBay Inc. she led strategic privacy initiatives, advised on privacy by design, and guided cross-border compliance. She began her legal career in the telecommunications and technology practice at Willkie Farr and Gallagher in Washington, DC. Before law, she worked in advertising and graphic arts, surprisingly useful skills for a career in privacy.
