Cheryl Yuan is Deputy General Counsel at VEON, a leading global telecommunications company headquartered in Amsterdam. She leads a legal team focused on strategic projects across the group’s footprint, including acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, joint ventures, strategic partnerships and other transactions in countries such as Russia, Italy, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Kazakhstan. Prior to joining VEON, Cheryl was a corporate partner at Kirkland & Ellis focused on M&A, private equity and restructuring, working in their New York and Shanghai offices. Cheryl also has previous experience working at technology companies in Silicon Valley. Cheryl has a Juris Doctorate degree from the New York University School of Law, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Columbia University.
