Speaker Bio
Amy Conway-Hatcher is a highly experienced legal and strategic advisor, and former prosecutor in Washington, D.C. As a private sector counsel for over two decades, she has advised executive leadership, Boards of Directors, and General Counsel, and led teams on high-stakes crisis management, complex investigations, compliance, and risk management matters in the U.S. and around the globe. Her experience ranges from prosecuting homicide, sex offense and other violent crimes in her early career to navigating a range of sensitive corporate matters from multi-national bribery to mislabeling of drugs to fraud to misconduct in the leadership ranks. In 2018, she was selected as the first woman Special Counsel for the Commission on Judicial Disabilities and Tenure for the District of Columbia, an independent body created by Congress to oversee judicial ethics investigations and reappointment matters for DC Court judges. In that role, she works closely with appointed Commissioners and DC Court leadership on important matters impacting the DC community.

During the COVID pandemic, Amy left her Big Law equity partner job to work for Schertler, Onorato, Mead & Sears, a premier defense firm that offered her greater flexibility without sacrificing quality of work. She’s active in the Women’s Bar Association, her community and local charities, in her kids’ lives (much to their chagrin), and she recently published a book sharing her personal experiences and perspectives on making the climb to the upper ranks of Big Law as a woman while raising a family. “Infinitely More” is a “story behind the surveys” that shines a spotlight on the challenges talented women continue to face in law from the Boardroom to the conference rooms of Big Law, and among colleagues and peers.

Amy has received numerous accolades and awards for her leadership and reputation for handling tough, complex matters. She has written extensively on important compliance and ethics issues, and often is asked to bring her wit, wisdom, and candor to talks on advancing and sustaining women in leadership. She holds a JD from Catholic University, Columbus School of Law, and a BA, cum laude, from the University of Vermont. She has certificates in Executive Leadership and High-Performance Leadership from Cornell University. She is licensed to practice in the District of Columbia and Maryland. In her “spare” time, she loves to cook, garden, walk her Tollers, support peers in career climbs, and cheer her kids on in volleyball.
