Sherri Evans Harris serves at the General Counsel for the District of Columbia Courts. Prior to joining the courts, Sherri was a Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for litigation at Freddie Mac. While at Freddie Mac, Sherri also served as Vice President, Ethics and Business Practices in the Compliance Division, Associate General Counsel in the Legal Division, and co-chair of the Legal Division’s Diversity and Inclusion Council.
Prior to joining Freddie Mac, Sherri was a Principal Counsel for Enforcement at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. She also served as the Executive Assistant United States Attorney for Management and an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia.
Ms. Harris has a history of community involvement. She previously served on the Boards of STEM4US, Branches of Hope Community Development Corporation, and the Jones-Haywood Dance School. Ms. Harris is a faculty member of the Trial Advocacy Workshop at the Harvard Law School, and the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. She received her B.A. from Michigan State University and her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
