Betty Y. Jang, legal executive, has served as Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel for both private and public companies. For over 30 years, Betty’s career has spanned in-house, private, and public organizations and she is the Founder of BYJ Law LLC, serving as General Counsel for well-funded, high growth biotech and life science corporations. Earlier in her career, she worked at a Chicago law firm and the Cook County Public Defender’s Office. Her experience advising organizations through periods of significant change and crisis informs her strategic approach to navigating uncertainty, protecting organizational stability, and positioning them for growth.
Betty serves on the Board of Trustees of the Truman Foundation, having been twice appointed by the President of the United States and twice confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Across five presidential administrations, Betty has been selected to advise on nominees for lifetime judicial appointments. She also serves on the Auxiliary Board of the Chicago Counsel on Science and Technology, has held leadership positions in national and local legal organizations, and is a member of the Executive Club of Chicago. Throughout her career, she has championed the advancement of women in the legal profession through mentorship, leadership, and service.
