Emily Elam is Citi’s Head of Legal Strategic Priorities and Global Co-Chair of Pro Bono. Since joining Citi in 2016, Elam has held roles in litigation, U.S. Personal Banking, and legal operations while also serving as a leader in the employee engagement and volunteerism spaces. Her primary role includes responsibilities that range across Citi Legal’s geographic footprint and functional teams in the areas of departmental strategic
priorities, risk reduction, and employee engagement. In the pro bono space, in addition to her Global Co-Chair role, Elam co-leads the award-winning Citi St. Louis Pro Bono Program, which has engaged employees in serving the local community for over a decade as part of the St. Louis Pro Bono Partnership with Legal Services of Eastern Missouri and BCLP, LLP. Elam is also a proud member of the global Pro Bono Institute
In-House Pro Bono Community and has presented several accredited CLEs on pro bono topics. In 2023, she was recognized by the Missouri Bar Association with an award for outstanding pro bono service.
Elam is an active member of the St. Louis community and serves on several area nonprofit boards, including the Board of Directors of Legal Services of Eastern Missouri. She is a graduate of the University of Central Missouri (B.S.) and St. Louis University School of Law (J.D.). Prior to joining Citi, she practiced at a firm in St. Louis.
