Heather is the founding partner and owner of Hilgers Graben, the country's largest woman-owned law firm. Heather has had a varied career in both the public and private sectors, starting as a prosecutor before moving to the private sector as a commercial litigator. Prior to founding Hilgers Graben, she served as the Associate Director of Career Services for the University of Nebraska College of Law.

An active community member, Heather has served on the Board of Directors for the Junior League of Lincoln, NE and on the Board of Directors for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). She is currently serving on the Statewide Advisory Board for the Lied Center for the Performing Arts, and is a new member of Young Presidents Organization.
