Ms. Chapin is the Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of the National Student Clearinghouse and the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, organizations whose missions are to serve the education and workforce communities and learners with innovative data driven technology solutions that provide state and federal compliance reporting, analytical research, education verification, transcript and data exchange across the education to workforce continuum. She oversees the legal, regulatory and legislative affairs functions of these organizations.

Prior to going in-house, Ms. Chapin was a partner in the Intellectual Property, Media and Technology Department of McDermott, Will & Emery LLP, where she represented Fortune 100 companies to emerging growth companies in a broad range of litigation, regulatory and transaction matters. She served as the President of the Association of Corporate Counsel National Capital Region chapter and is currently serving on its board of directors. She is a frequent speaker on data privacy and cybersecurity matters, risk management and law department management, participating on panels for Association of Corporate Counsel, Georgetown Law Cybersecurity Law Institute, and ACC National Capital Region, among others.
