Chantal currently serves as Senior Counsel-Commercial Litigation in McDonald’s Law Department. She has over 15 years of litigation experience. In her position, she handles a docket of diverse and high-profile commercial litigation matters in which McDonald’s is a party in the US and across the globe. Chantal partners with outside counsel, actively engages in the litigation process to assess risk, develop strategy, manage budgets, ensure compliance with e-discovery requirements, prepare for trial, and devise appellate strategy. She provides advice and counsel to Legal Department colleagues and business partners to reduce legal risk, avoid litigation, and protect the Brand. She strategically responds to governmental investigations and Congressional inquiries on behalf of McDonald’s and provides advice and counsel in connection with the rollout of new policies, initiatives, equipment, products, and technologies.
Prior to joining McDonald’s, Chantal was in-house at Discover, where she had the primary responsibility of managing all aspects of both significant and routine litigation matters including, fact investigation, strategy development, discovery, motion practice, mediation, settlement negotiations, trial, and appeal. Chantal has managed risk and litigation for parent companies and their subsidiaries in North America, and had expanded secondary responsibilities for EMEA, particularly the United Kingdom and British Caribbean Territories for the captive management business while at Aon. She has experience handling government and regulatory inquiries and providing litigation risk analysis for prospective mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
Chantal is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Chantal earned her law degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and received her undergraduate degree from New York University.
