Hon. Anna H. Demacopoulos (Ret.) joins JAMS in Chicago following 15 years of distinguished service to the Circuit Court of Cook County (Illinois) and over 20 years of service to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. In the Chancery Division, Judge Demacopoulos handled a wide variety of matters, including class actions, confirmation of arbitration awards, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, insurance coverage, mortgage foreclosure, trusts, shareholder derivative actions, and other business disputes.

During her time in the Criminal Division, Judge Demacopoulos handled a high-volume felony courtroom, presiding over bench and jury trials, including sexual assault, stalking, financial crimes, official misconduct, and complex, multijurisdictional RICO matters involving drug trafficking. This experience leveraged her proficiency with Illinois practice, especially around the admissibility of forensic and expert testimony and complex, multiparty case management. She has shared this experience with generations of Illinois attorneys as an adjunct professor in trial advocacy for the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law for over 30 years.
