Speaker Bio
Kenneth (Ken) Horenstein is a Vice-President and Associate Group General Counsel at Travelers, where he leads a dedicated team of attorneys who advise and represent Travelers’ General Liability (GL) claim organization.
Beyond his decades of expertise in insurance law, Ken is passionate about leadership: both being a leader and helping others become the leaders they’re meant to be. Knowing that people perform their best only when they feel seen, known, heard, and valued, Ken is deeply invested in his own and others’ professional development; due to his advocacy for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) at work, several women of color on his team nominated Ken for a “diversity champion” award. His support has included the creation and execution of various talent development and retention initiatives.
Ken’s passion for leadership development is an outgrowth of his belief in the power of coaching (formal or informal), which he saw firsthand as a Little League baseball coach for his son’s team. After learning from the excellent training and other resources of the national Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), Ken was awarded his town’s Little League coaching award for his impact in elevating the boys on the team in multiple ways. Ken enjoys bringing those lessons into his work at Travelers for the benefit of his colleagues and the enterprise.
A New York native, Ken now lives in West Hartford, Connecticut, with his wife and their two teenage children, and their labradoodle Ozzie.
