Zhaoying (Dorothy) Du is the Global Head of Legal at Motorola Mobility, leading the company’s worldwide legal strategy and operations. Dorothy leads efforts to mitigate the impact of recent tariff increases, developing strategic solutions to navigate evolving trade regulations and minimize business disruptions, as well as overseeing key areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), XaaS (anything as a service), monetization, product R&D, intellectual property, compliance, data privacy, sales and marketing, corporate governance, and high-stakes litigation. With a focus on aligning legal strategies with business objectives, she helps drive innovation, mitigate risks, and ensure regulatory compliance across global markets.

With 20 years of experience advising multinational corporations, Dorothy has a strong track record in complex commercial negotiations, compliance, and cross-border transactions. Before joining Motorola, she worked in a leading international insurance company, where she developed compliance and risk management programs and led strategic initiatives. Earlier in her career, she co-chaired a practice group at a major law firm, advising on mergers and acquisitions, financing and securities, private equity deals, startups and many other matters.

Dorothy holds a Juris Doctor from a U.S. law school and a Bachelor of Law degree from a top China law school. Qualified to practice in both the U.S. and China, she leverages her unique cross-border expertise to provide pragmatic and forward-thinking legal solutions that empower business success.
