As litigation heats up against tech giants, and consumers become more aware of how their personal data is being used, a global awakening is slowly unfolding. The U.S. has been largely absent from any government intervention, and tech companies are introducing rules that favor their own ideals and business models, sometimes at the expense of their peers and the public.
