Kristie Scott has over 20 years of experience as in-house counsel to technology companies. Ms. Scott joined Vocus, Inc., a leading provider of SaaS software for PR, marketing and corporate communications as its first in-house counsel in 2004. In 2014 Vocus was taken private by an equity firm, GTCR, which also acquired Vocus competitors Cision and Gorkana. In 2016, GTCR acquired PR Newswire into the Cision group of companies. After several other acquisitions and a public offering, Cision is now a global company of almost 5,000 publicly traded on the NYSE.

As General Counsel, Ms. Scott is responsible for structuring and negotiating a broad range of technology and corporate agreements including software licenses, partnerships, vendor contracts, and acquisition documents as well as advising the company and its board of directors on corporate governance issues and M&A.

Working in small legal departments throughout her career, Ms. Scott has supported many and varied business units including sales and marketing, corporate development, IT, product development, HR, and finance and accounting.

Prior to joining Cision, Ms. Scott worked as in-house counsel to Aether Systems, Inc., a wireless technology company, and Credit Management Solutions, a credit processing software provider. Prior to receiving her JD, Ms. Scott developed and programmed various software applications in the defense, time management and recording, and credit processing industries.

Ms. Scott graduated from Bucknell University with a B.S. in computer science and engineering and earned her JD from the University of Baltimore School of Law. She lives with her husband and two sons in Maryland.
