Ms. Jayaram is the senior executive responsible for managing NSD’s efforts to combat national security threats associated with information systems intrusions, economic espionage, and proliferation in the context of foreign investment programs and corporate engagement activities. Ms. Jayaram also represents the Department on multi-agency committees concerning technology, trade, and security. Ms. Jayaram joined the Department of Justice from the Department of Homeland Security, where she was responsible for Foreign Investment Policy and Trade Policy. Ms. Jayaram has supervised the adjudication of foreign investment-related filings and U.S. trade policy, e-commerce, and intellectual property initiatives under three Administrations. She is the recipient of numerous awards for meritorious professional achievement and service to the nation.
Prior to her government service, Ms. Jayaram practiced law for several years at an international law firm in Washington, DC, advising on a variety of international trade and compliance matters. She is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Law, School of Music, and College of Arts and Sciences.
