Rebecca O. Fruchtman. With over twenty years’ experience in bankruptcy/restructuring matters and related litigation, Ms. Fruchtman has been extensively involved in some of the largest Chapter 11 cases filed in the United States, including the Calpine, United Airlines, Delta, Tronox, Conseco, PG&E and Republic Technologies cases. In addition, Ms. Fruchtman has broad middle market experience, having advised mid cap companies, their boards and management teams, and other constituencies in a wide variety of distressed situations. Her experience spans the airline, power/utility, alternative energy, automotive, chemical, steel, technology, and distressed real estate sectors. Ms. Fruchtman has also worked extensively in corporate finance, with particular focus on aircraft, power generation facilities and automotive equipment (stamping presses).
Ms. Fruchtman is currently a Senior Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at Bank of America Merrill Lynch where she advises the Bank’s Business Capital line of business (Central Region US) on asset based lending facilities up to $1 Billion, workout and bankruptcy matters. Previously Ms. Fruchtman served as counsel to the Bank’s global trade and supply chain line of business (2012 to 2017). Prior to joining the Bank, Ms. Fruchtman was a founding partner of Baer Higgins Fruchtman LLC, a law firm focusing on complex bankruptcy and restructuring matters and before that, was an attorney in the Kirkland & Ellis LLP restructuring and corporate finance practice groups from 1999.
Ms. Fruchtman served on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) from 2013 to 2016 and won the TMA Chicago Pro Bono engagement of year award in 2016. Ms. Fruchtman also served a two-year term as Membership Relations Director of the American Bankruptcy Institute Committee on Commercial Fraud, and was an Associate Editor of the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal from 2008 through 2012.
Ms. Fruchtman is AV Peer Review-rated by Martindale-Hubbell and holds B.S. and J.D. degrees from Georgetown University; and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
