Senior Vice President & General Counsel
Megan is a member of The Scoular Company’s Senior Leadership team and serves as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Megan leads Scoular's Legal, as well as its Brand Marketing & Corporate Communications teams. In her Legal role, Megan leads the team of lawyers and legal professionals who manage all legal, compliance, and legal risk matters for the company. She also leads the governance and management work for the company’s Board of Directors and its initiatives, and serves as the company’s Corporate Secretary. In her Brand Marketing & Corporate Communications leadership role, Megan leads the team of creative and communications professionals who support the company’s operations and service teams on the brand, marketing, internal and external communications, and public relations work, leading the strategy for the same in partnership with business partners.
In the fifteen years preceding her joining the leadership team at Scoular, Megan was a partner with an Am Law 100 law firm in its Food & Agribusiness unit focusing on compliance, labor and employment, and litigation matters, in addition to serving as the Vice President & Chief Counsel - Employment Law and Compliance at Conagra Brands for seven years. In that role, and for over six years, she led the team that managed the employment, labor, and employee compliance related legal matters for the company and its then 35,000 plus employees. Megan joined Conagra Brands after six years in private practice with Husch Blackwell, representing large public and private companies in employment, labor, and litigation matters.
Megan is the former Chair of the Committee of the Year award winning Employment and Labor Law Committee of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) and previously sat on the Editorial Advisory Board for the ACC Docket. ACC also named her to its inaugural class of Top Ten 30 Somethings. Ethisphere magazine has named her as a Top Ethics and Compliance Officers in its annual Attorneys Who Matter listing three times. In addition, Inside Counsel magazine awarded Megan with its Transformative Leader award, and twice named her to its R3-100 Next Generation of Women General Counsel list. In 2019, the Nebraska State Bar awarded Megan its annual Outstanding Contributor to Women in the Law award at its annual meeting.
Megan graduated from the University of Missouri and Boston College Law School. She holds a certificate in Human Resources Management from Cornell University, and is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional. Megan is also a NACD Governance Fellow.
