Lisa T. Murphy is Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Cambia Health Solutions, Inc. She has spent her 25+ year legal career supporting the legal needs of BlueCross BlueShield companies.
In her current role, Lisa provides strategic counsel to her business clients, helping them innovate and adapt to achieve Cambia’s mission to transform the healthcare industry by creating a consumer-focused, economically sustainable health care system – all while staying within the confines of the law. She manages Cambia’s corporate legal services team and leads its corporate governance function.
Prior to joining Cambia in 2003, Lisa was a partner with the Washington, D.C. firm Miller & Chevalier Chartered. She also served as in-house counsel for BCBSA in its Washington, D.C. office. Lisa has served on numerous non-profit boards and is a past chair of the Oregon State Board of Bar Examiners. Lisa frequently speaks on legal issues relating to the health insurance industry and in-house law department management.
Lisa earned her law degree in 1993 from Cornell Law School, cum laude, and graduated from the University of Oregon in 1989, cum laude, with a B.S. in Political Science. A native Oregonian, Lisa lives in the Seattle area with her husband and three sons. Although Lisa’s passion truly is her work, she’s happy to share her opinions on raising teenagers, why dystopian stories are the perfect escape mechanism, and strategies for enjoying a visit to Disney World.
