Lumka Khaile is the Head of Legal for Merck (Pty) Ltd, a local subsidiary of the Merck Group, a German multinational science and
technology company that provides pharmaceutical and life science products. In this role, Lumka is responsible for supporting and advising
on a wide range of legal and corporate issues in the English and Portuguese speaking Africa countries within the region.
Lumka serves as an Executive Director in the company’s board of directors and is a member of the company’s country council.
She is also a member of the company’s Social and Ethics Committee. In this role, she has set up the structure of the committee and leads
the development and adoption of best practices and on sustainability reporting in terms of the Companies Act and King Code on Corporate
governance.
