Fred is the Head of Legal and Secretarial Services at Safaricom Plc where he has responsibility for the company’s legal, secretariat
and corporate governance matters. He has held this role since July 2017 having joined Safaricom from SEACOM, a privately
owned submarine cable operator and ICT enabler where he served as the Head of Legal overseeing SEACOM’s legal and
regulatory affairs department.
Prior to joining SEACOM in May 2012, Fred was the Principal In-House Counsel in charge of Corporate Centres and Secretarial
Services at Safaricom having risen from Senior In-House Counsel and before that he was an Associate in the law firm of Kaplan &
Stratton Advocates.
Fred has an LLB (Hons) from the University of Luton, UK (now theUniversity of Bedfordshire) and a Postgraduate Diploma from the
Kenya School of Law. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, Commissioner for Oaths and a Certified Public Secretary.
Fred has over 16 years of post-admission experience, 12 of which have been in the telecommunications industry.
Fred is married and blessed with two children.
