With a professional track record and legal experience that has been accumulated over 22 years, Madeleine has worked for some of the biggest South African property houses, both in the listed and private sectors which include Redefine, Growthpoint and CBRE Excellerate. Madeleine holds a BLC LLB Degree, a BA Honours in Political Science Degree, a LLM Degree in Human Rights and Constitutional Practice, as well as an Advanced Certificate in Construction Law and Building Contracts from the University of Pretoria. She holds an Advanced Certificate in the Law of Banking and Financial Markets, and a Certificate in Advanced Company Law, from the University of the Witwatersrand. She was admitted as an Attorney in 1995, and as a Conveyancer in 1997. She is an Advocate of the High Court of SA. She is accredited by AFSA (the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa) as an Arbitrator, Mediator and Facilitator. She has been included in the Legal 500 shortlist of most influential General Counsels in Africa. She has been a finalist for The African Legal Awards’ General Counsel of the Year, for 2013-2018. Her articles have been published in the De Rebus Law Journal, as well as Asset Magazine (a digital publication targeted at the commercial property sector). Madeleine was the winner of the Professional of the Year, Corporate/Private Sector Category, for Gauteng, presented by WPN (Women's Property Network) in 2016-2017. She served on Legal Week’s Advisory Board for the Corporate Counsel Forum Africa, 2017-2018. Madeleine was a Finalist for the Standard Bank Top Women Awards - Property Category, in 2017. She is currently focusing on best practices for the establishment of a compliance in African jurisdictions.
