Yvonne Perumal is an accomplished legal executive with over 20 years of post-admission experience in the financial services sector. As an executive at Standard Bank Group, Yvonne leads the legal function for the Insurance and Asset Management Business Unit, following her instrumental role in the integration of Liberty Group into Standard Bank. Her expertise spans corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory affairs, and complex legal disputes, with a proven record of guiding executive management and boards through strategic legal challenges.

Yvonne’s expertise extends to insurance, investments, asset management, retirement funds and property management and development.

Yvonne’s leadership has been recognized through numerous accolades, including her inclusion in the Legal 500 GC Powerlist SA for 2024 and 2025, and her team’s recognition as Legal Department of the Year at the African Legal Awards 2021. She played a pivotal role in landmark transactions such as the Standard Bank acquisition of Liberty and the Liberty Two Degrees buyout as well as in precedent-setting litigation on intellectual property and data ownership.
