Grace Yuen is Chief Legal and Risk Officer, responsible for shaping the overall legal, regulatory and risk strategy to ensure alignment with ESR’s investment and operational goals. She oversees legal execution of strategic transactions, while managing governance, compliance, ESG and risk frameworks, and legal risk across the company.
Grace brings over 18 years of legal advisory experience across the investment life cycle and multiple asset classes. Prior to joining ESR, she was Managing Director and Head of Legal, Asia at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments), where she was their first lawyer on the ground in Asia Pacific and built its regional legal function. A member of CPP Investments’ APAC Leadership Team and Global Legal Leadership Team, Grace was also a strategic adviser and thought partner to senior leadership in APAC and the broader organisation.
Previously, Grace was a senior corporate lawyer at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton and several other top tier UK and US law firms specialising in complex, multi-jurisdictional mergers and acquisitions, private equity and other strategic transactions and has led high profile deals in real asset and other sectors. She has worked in London, Brussels, and Hong Kong.
Grace holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Yale University and is a graduate of BPP Law School. She is a qualified solicitor in England and Wales, and Hong Kong.
