Julian Washington is the Head of Tax, Heritage & UK Museums at Sotheby’s. In this role, Julian leads the team in London which assists clients with the special tax exemptions for heritage property in the UK. He works closely with Sotheby’s network of other professional advisers, partnering with them, to bring the full range of Sotheby’s expertise into play for them and their clients. Julian is a solicitor and a TEP. Prior to joining Sotheby’s, his career began in the legal profession. Qualifying as a solicitor in 1993, he first worked at the firm then known as Charles Russell and later became a partner at Forsters. In 2010 Julian joined Royal Bank of Canada. Initially working with the bank’s fiduciary business, he went on to hold a variety of roles, with a focus on business development and thought leadership, across the bank’s wealth management platform. Julian has served as trustee of various charitable bodies, encompassing the heritage, medical and education sectors.
