Áine Lyons is a VP and Deputy General Counsel who leads Global Legal Service, Operations and Privacy at VMware. She also serves as the Chief of Staff to VMware’s General Counsel. Working with the Legal Team and the business, she drives legal operational excellence through scalable innovation. VMware Legal has 230 team members based in 36 countries globally supporting a $10 billion + business that is enabling customers to accelerate their digital transformation. VMware Legal is a diverse multidisciplinary team of fearless legal innovators who harness the power of their difference to develop solutions that mitigate risk while still pursuing business objectives in an ever-changing global environment. As a member of VMware’s VMinclusion and ESG Executive Councils, Áine has been part of setting the DEI and sustainability strategy for the company. Áine has over 20 years of experience managing legal and cross-functional teams, predominately in fast-moving technology companies. The Financial Times named Áine the 2019 “Legal Intrapreneur of the Year” for her transformation efforts, and the VMware Legal team has won numerous industry awards for operational excellence and driving industry change in how legal services are delivered.
